Sichuan Province, a province rich in resources of bio-energy tree species, has major forest tree biomass energy base construction species such as Jatropha curcas, Coptis chinensis, Wuhuan, and tung oil tree. According to the agreement signed between the State Forestry Administration and PetroChina, in 2007 and 2008, the Panax jatropha area will develop 1.6 million mu in Sichuan Panxi area. Jatropha curcas is an internationally recognized biodiesel species with nut oil content as high as 35% to 61.2%. Biodiesel extracted can replace domestic O-diesel. According to calculations, according to an average annual yield of 300 kilograms of Jatropha curcas seeds and an average seed price of 2 yuan per kilogram, the construction of 8 million acres of Jatropha energy forest in the Panxi area can boost the income of 1 million farmers in the region. If this is the case, the annual per capita annual income of local farmers can reach 4,800 yuan only by selling Jatropha seeds.
