Stanford University Introduces a Reflector to Replace Air Conditioners

Air conditioning may be difficult to install and operate expensive equipment, but so far, they are considered to be the most effective way to maintain indoor cooling. A team of scientists established by Stanford University scientists developed a supermirror in California to reduce the heat in the air. By reflecting infrared radiation, the thin material can keep the room at about 5 degrees Celsius during the day, which is equivalent to an air cooler in a building. The device is a multilayer material, but it is thinner than the thinnest foil. .
This kind of equipment is a cheaper method to replace the air conditioner that needs electricity to keep the building cool. About 15% of the energy in the United States is used in building air-conditioning power supply systems. The material will need to be installed on the roof of the building and they will directly reflect the heat back into the space. Because the material is highly reflective, placing it on the side of the building is not a viable option because it will cause heat to radiate to the ground. The team also believes it can be a spray material that makes the object more tolerant of elements. Researchers say that due to the warming of the earth, heat-dissipation technology that does not require power supplies may become more common.
