Methanation technology is a key core technology for coal-to-gas projects. However, for a long time, methane synthesis technology and methanation catalyst synthesis technology have been in the hands of developed countries. Prior to the process of coal-based natural gas in China from the air separation to the final environmental protection link, in addition to the methanation process technology has not yet achieved a breakthrough, the other parts have adopted domestically produced technologies and equipment. As the domestic methanation technology and catalysts are not yet operational in large-scale industrialization, domestic coal-based natural gas projects can only introduce foreign technologies, process packages and catalysts at high prices.
After five years of scientific research, Dalian Institute of Chemical Industry has independently developed a complete methanation catalyst with high temperature and hydrothermal stability, and completed an 8000-hour life test in the laboratory.
