Domestic market status

Future development proposals

In order to avoid adverse effects caused by excess production capacity, the epichlorohydrin industry in China should focus on several issues in the future.

Actively adopt safe and environmentally friendly glycerol production technology. China is a big country for energy consumption. The self-sufficiency rate of crude oil is only about 50%. To develop biomass energy is an established national long-term goal. Therefore, China will have a large amount of bio-glycerine resources to be used in the future. The production of epichlorohydrin using bio-glycerine as raw material can not only reduce the dependence on petroleum, but also promote the development of biomass energy industry, which has great economic and social value.

Actively develop intermediate products such as allyl chloride and allyl alcohol. Chloropropene and allyl alcohol are important intermediates for organic synthesis. They can be used not only for the production of epichlorohydrin, but also for the production of pesticides, pharmaceuticals, resins, synthetic material additives, coatings, and the like. Acrylic alcohol is also an important intermediate for the preparation of 1,4-butanediol, glycidol, plastic additives, fragrances, pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals. Epichlorohydrin companies should actively develop and produce epichlorohydrin intermediate products such as allyl chloride and allyl alcohol to enhance their ability to withstand market risks.

Newly built devices are best to achieve integrated upstream and downstream development.
