Promoting the Use of Ethanol Gasoline in Vehicles Reveals Henan Province's Annual Output of Zhongyuan Oilfield in 8 Months

The reporter learned from the Office of Promoting the Use of Car Alcohol Gasoline in Henan Province that from November last year to July of this year, the promotion of the use of ethanol gas for vehicles in the province has already saved the oil production of Zhongyuan Oil Field for one year.
The relevant data from the Provincial Development and Reform Commission show that the use of vehicle ethanol gasoline can save 5% to 10% on average compared to the use of unleaded gasoline, which means that using 1 liter of ethanol gasoline can save 0.1 liters of gasoline. The province sells an average of 150,000 tons of ethanol gasoline each month, which means that 15,000 tons of unleaded gasoline can be saved. The province has been accumulatively selling 1.2 million tons of ethanol gasoline in the 8 months of July this year since the province closed its promotion of the use of ethanol for motor vehicles in the province. If it is calculated according to 3.49 tons of crude oil needed to produce 1 ton of gasoline, It has saved 4.188 million tons of crude oil. In 2004, Zhongyuan Oilfield produced more than 4 million tons of crude oil. The promotion of the use of ethanol gasoline in Henan Province for 8 months just saved one year's oil production in Zhongyuan Oilfield.
According to relevant persons from the Provincial Development and Reform Commission, the province has been piloting the promotion of ethanol gas for vehicles in Nanyang, Zhengzhou, and Luoyang since the first half of 2001, and in accordance with the overall arrangements and deployment of the National Development and Reform Commission, by the end of November 2004 in the province. The use of ethanol gas for vehicles has been fully implemented in China and it has successfully achieved closed operation within the province. At present, the market share of ethanol gasoline in Henan Province has reached more than 96%.
Experts said that the promotion of the use of vehicle ethanol gasoline is of great significance to Henan Province. Henan is a large agricultural province. Food is more than an advantage and a burden. On the one hand, the government has to build up grain reserves and give subsidies; on the other hand, there is no market for grain, and the problem of farmers increasing production without increasing income is becoming increasingly prominent. The promotion of the use of vehicle ethanol gasoline is a good solution to this contradiction. More importantly, the use of vehicle ethanol gas can ease the contradiction of oil shortage, especially in the current "oil shortage" in some areas, even more shows that the province to promote the advantages of ethanol gasoline for vehicles.
