From 1996 to 1998, Shanchuan and South Korea's Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. took the lead in converting two super-oil tankers into FPSOs in China, laying the foundation for future self-modification. Since 2002, the mountain boat has completed the OBO ship modified double-hull oil tanker, VLCC modified bulk carrier, single-hull tanker modified self-unloading ship project, making the factory single-hull tanker conversion technology more mature, forming its own characteristics. These conversion projects have also achieved many successful experiences.

Experience 1: Determine the best solution. In the process of remodeling a single-hull tanker, the mountain boat should pay attention to the actual situation of the modified ship and the actual resources of the plant to determine the most suitable plan. In the modification of the OBO ship and the 74,000 tons of self-unloading ship project, the mountain ship fully utilized the existing docks, floating platforms and other equipment and facilities according to the actual situation of the unit without the ship platform, and explored the land construction segment and the airbag rolling into the water. The new technology of floating and closing in the dock has been successful. In the VLCC modified bulk carrier and the ongoing "Paros Warrior" modification, the new steel structure on the original ship was changed to a double-shell double bottom.

Experience 2: Grasp the key links. The single-hull tanker has a large amount of engineering, many links, complicated technology and high construction difficulty. In the modification of the mountain boat, we must pay attention to the key links: First, we should fully prepare for the preliminary preparation, especially the procurement of materials and equipment, so that the purchased equipment is matched with the original ship and meets relevant regulations. Secondly, the production design is refined and good. The quality of the drawings is closed to avoid rework caused by design mistakes. Third, comprehensively understand the engineering situation and formulate a reasonable order to organize the construction.

Experience 3: The main attack is difficult. The age of the modified ships is generally more than 15 years. Such ships are poorly built and are drawn by hand. Even if the construction is carried out according to the figure, there will be deviations when the new and old sections are closed. Before the conversion, the mountain boat fully estimated this technical difficulty and concentrated on tackling the problem. In the OBO ship modified double-hull tanker project, the targeted measures were taken: First, leave one or two meters in the position of the closed port without welding, only assembly, In order to carry out the correction; the second is to measure at the hull site, conditional on-site proofing, to correct the design error; third, to improve, transition and strengthen the external line type and internal structure.

Lesson 4: Make sure the system matches. In the single-hull tanker conversion project, in addition to the hull structure, the matching of old and new systems is also crucial. On the basis of a comprehensive understanding of the engineering, equipment and facilities, the mountain boat takes equipment updates or upgrades to the old equipment that does not match, ensuring the normal connection between the old and new systems.
