According to the latest news from European Plastics Network, the rapidly developing petrochemical industry in the Middle East has recently established its first industry association, the Gulf Petrochemical and Chemical Association (GPCA). The purpose of GPCA is to identify and safeguard the common interests of its members while working with colleagues outside the Gulf region.
Mohamed Al-Mady, CEO of Saudi Basic Industries, was elected GPCA's first chairman. He pointed out: "If the petrochemical industry in the Middle East can unite, the problems faced in dealing with standardization such as environment, safety, management, logistics, education, and petrochemical and chemical downstream industries will be more efficient."
According to reports, the association’s sponsors include Borouge in the UAE, Equate in Kuwait, Gulf Petrochemical Industries in Bahrain, Qapco in Qatar, Saudi Basic Industries in Saudi Arabia and Tasnee Petrochemical.
