Wei Tongwei, secretary general of the China Automobile Maintenance Industry Association Automobile Repair Parts Working Committee, said that at present, there is no national standard for the Chinese automobile market auto parts coding. Each manufacturer uses its own, which leads to a high level of auto aftermarket prices.
"The manufacturer's code is not unique, and it is impossible to query product information. The national standard is coded globally with reference to global standards." Wei Tongwei said that in the future, it can be used to search for traceability, anti-counterfeiting, evaluation, and certification through unified coding.
Xie Ying, the person in charge of the China Article Numbering Center, introduced that the “Consultation Draft for the Uniform Coding of Vehicle Components and Markers†has been completed and will be submitted to the relevant national authorities for approval.
Tomorrow, the standard will begin to be promoted and piloted at 10 car companies in October.
