Caterpillar (ship hangar position) has officially announced the development of another MaK dual-fuel version of the medium-speed propulsion engine.
According to reports, this M34DF machine is based on the M32C machine, with the same size and main parameters, diesel and gas mode power 500kW/cylinder720 and 750 respectively. Although designed for unlimited operation of LNG, marine diesel and HFO, the M34DF will achieve industry-leading gas model efficiencies. It is expected that the first aircraft will be delivered in October 2014.
The machine is 340mm aperture and 460mm stroke. It is mainly aimed at the promotion market of marine support vessels and small cargo ships. It has real-time monitoring (product library purchase and supply), flexible camshafts, and enhanced operational safety.
